They just had a baby today, a baby girl. Her two small pinkish hands were searching for her mother. But she was taken into a glass room for some precautions. She was trying to see the outer world with her beautiful big and new eyes. Everyone was so happy to see her blinking, playing and laughing in her own way. But there was someone who was not that happy. It was her father. He went to his office to collect his salary. Debarun was so happy a few months ago knowing his parenthood. Somehow he assumed that they were going to have a baby doll and he told this to Indrani. Indrani didn’t say anything. She had never seen him so excited like this. She just used to give a calm smile to all his assumptions. And the day came. Indrani was admitted into the hospital. Deb was trying to teach her the ‘Do’s and Don’ts’ list again and again. The date of her cesarean operation was fixed on the next day of her admission. Deb was present there from the morning. After the operation, he was called into the doctor’s cabin. They had a discussion. And then he left for office.

A day went away. Debarun was in his office sitting calmly. Subhas, one of his colleagues asked about the matter. They had a talk. Subhas informed Deb that their senior Prof. Bhattacharya had a great network and he might help Deb. So Deb should go there. Deb had a fight with Prof. Bhattacharya over some idealistic matter a few days back. He would never ever help Deb. But there was no other way around. And this might be the last chance he was getting. Deb went for Prof. Bhattacharya’s cabin. He was reading a paper and making some notes from it. Deb knocked. Prof. Bhattacharya lifted his eyes up a bit and told Deb to come in. Deb was so tensed that he forgot all formalities and he just could see Indrani’s face in front of his eyes. Deb asked for a help from Prof. Bhattacharya directly. Prof. Bhattacharya wanted to know about the issue. Deb went on saying; his wife was suffering from a severe peritonitis, it was spreading at a very high speed. The doctor informed him about it and they were not taking any serious step for it. His voice choked. There was a pause for some seconds. Then Prof. Bhattacharya told Deb that his brother just retired as a dean of that medical institute and if he was there, Deb didn’t have to bother for anything. Deb thought he was trying to avoid the situation. But astonishing him, Prof. Bhattacharya gave him a letter. He told Deb to meet a doctor named Dr. S Dutta.

Deb reached the place. He asked for Dr. Dutta at the reception. The receptionist told him that Dr. Dutta was busy and he couldn’t meet him. But Deb was desperate. He tried to trespass into his cabin. The guards stopped him forcibly. Hearing the noise, Dr. Dutta came out of his cabin and tried to understand the matter. Deb showed him the letter. Dr. Dutta took Deb into his cabin. He heard every word of Deb attentively and then made two calls. Dr. Dutta told Deb to go to the hospital and assured him that everything would be alright. Deb returned. He saw Indrani was given so much importance after that incident. A team of special doctors came to check her. She was immediately shifted under the best Surgeon of the hospital. Deb thought about those people who didn’t have any Prof. Bhattacharya in their lives. The surgeon told Deb that they had to make an operation without any delay and also informed that Indrani might have needed another operation after that. Deb agreed. The doctors fixed an operation on the next day.

It was intolerable for Deb to see Indrani like this. She turned into a thin body in two days. She couldn’t even eat anything. Whatever she drank, she vomited that. Saline was going on and on. She was kept on observation and no one was allowed to come into her cabin as she might get infected dangerously. Every time Deb came near to her cabin’s door, he tried to check by her body movement whether she was breathing or not. A fear ran through his mind making him shivering with a thought.

He was almost forced for an arrange marriage. He wanted more time as a free bird. After the marriage, a few months were just gone by understanding each other. Indrani was a very simple and easy girl to be with. She was short tempered. They too had some quarrels like any other couple. But at the end of the day, they both knew that it was their life and they had to make it beautiful. Deb couldn’t get any spare time to go out with her more often. Even they didn’t have their honeymoon trip. Deb knew that she had some dissatisfaction regarding that. But Indrani was very flexible to understand her duties. Then she gave him the best news of his life. Sitting on the bench near to Indrani’s cabin, first time he realized how much Indrani meant to her. She was his life. A tear drop rolled down. He saw the face of their baby in that tear. He got up and went to see the baby. Probably, this was the best moment of his life.

On the next day, Indrani was taken into the O.T. Every second of these three hours was fighting against some unknown fate. The doctors notified Deb about the success of the operation. Deb was so happy that he thought of almost getting a second life. Indrani was taken into observation for two days. In the mean time, a doctor told Deb to take the baby to home. He brought the 10-day baby to her grandmother. Everyday Deb used to visit hospital first, then signing at the office, then going to meet the baby and then again coming back to the hospital. After two days, situation of Indrani became critical again. She was shifted to ICU. Deb tried to find the connecting saline bottle which only indicated – Indrani was still alive. The surgeon told Deb about the next and most decisive operation. The operation got successful. Deb got his life and a beautiful new soul got her cause of life back.

Deb brought Indrani back to their home from hospital after almost two months. And for the first time Debjani, their baby daughter, got her mother’s touch.

Debarun still could see every hour of those days vividly while telling the love tale to Debjani. Deb told her gently that at any moment she could find the love behind a relationship. She just only had to give a scope to it. The method didn’t matter. The nature of the person she would be with was the most important thing to be considered. Arranged marriage or Love marriage is only a way of starting a relation. Blending love into it to make it the most beautiful purpose of life depends on the caring, loving characteristics of the persons who are into the relation.

From a slight distance Indrani was watching these two friends; a fifty year old father and a twenty three year old daughter, sharing the loveliest thought of life: Love.
